Mission Objectives
Primary Mission Objectives
- Help an 11 year old design and construct a sensor payload suitable for high altitude balloon flight (25-30km) to
- measure and record atmospheric temperature and pressure as a function of altitude
- take photos at regular intervals during flight
- Keep the payload simple so that said 11 year old can do as much of the work as possible
- Simple sensor suite with simple control code needs
- Launch, track and recover payload
- Present results at school science fair
Secondary Mission Objectives
- Use amateur radio to telemeter position and partial data record to ground during flight for tracking and as backup in event payload can not be recovered
- Gain experience with high altitude balloon launches both for science data and as a teaching tool
- Build material infrastructure for future launches
- Build software framework for future payload development
- For non-simple control needs, encapsulate code with simple API hooks so that we don't have to violate primary objective #2
